¶ Introduction
Since the introduction of Voice ATIS to Aurora our Division encourages ATC to use this function. However, it is crucial to know how to propely fill out ATIS so it is compatible with the voice feature.
¶ Global Reporting Format – GRF
Global Reporting Format (GRF), provides a uniform way to assess and reporting of runway surface conditions, while improving the ability of aircrews to assess takeoff and landing performance.

¶ GRF Procedures

The pavement condition assessment is performed by a trained person who, using the Runway Condition Assesment Matrix (RCAM), assigns a Runway Condition Code (RCC) to each third of the runway.

The code is supplemented with a description of the surface contamination, including the type, depth and amount of coverage.

Based on the observations, a Runway Condition Report (RCR) is prepared

The RCR is provided to air traffic services and aeronautical information services for distribution to flight crews via SNOWTAM, ATIS and, if necessary, by radio

Flight crews using the information provided can accurately calculate the required performance for takeoff or landing

Crews during landing additionally inform airport services of runway condition deviating from that provided.
¶ Runway Condition Assesment Matrix
¶ Voice ATIS Format
The following is a standarized format for all airports in EPWW FIR:
This is, [STATION_NAME] [ATIS_LETTER]. Time. [ATIS_TIME]. [REMARK]. Departure runway
[DEP] Transition level [TL]. [METAR]. end of [STATION_NAME] [ATIS_LETTER].
- STATION NAME – taken from IVAO server (data from Aurora)
- ATIS_LETTER – current ATIS letter (data from Aurora)
- ATIS_TIME – time at which ATIS was created (data from Aurora)
- REMARK – remarks made by ATC (user input in Aurora)
- DEP – departure runway (user input in Aurora)
- TL – transition level (user input in Aurora)
- METAR – decoded METAR information (data from Aurora)
Note that this format is not to be edited by the ATC. The only editable part of the ATIS are [REMARK] and the fields that you are required to populate when filling Aurora ATIS

¶ In this field the following information should be included:
- Active runway, arrival and approach procedure
Expect X arrival XXX approach for RWY X X.
- Runway Condition Codes (RCC)
RWY XX RWY condition codes. X. X. X.
- Runway and taxiway surface condition according to GRF
First part XXXX. Second part XXXX. Third part XXXX. Taxiways XXXX.
- Other operationally significant information such as:
Caution Birds Activity. For clearance contact TWR. Windshear reported. When airborn contace approach on XXX.XXX
Note that punctuation is VERY IMPORTANT if not applied correctly, issues with voice atis might occur.

¶ Notation & Useful shortcuts
- Runway designation numbers MUST be written using a space. Example: "3 3"
- Shortcuts and letters that must be spelled using ICAO alphabet MUST be written in capital letters. Example: "RWY", "Y".
- Standarized shortcuts such as: "WIP, CLSD, RWY, TWY" can be used and should work. However in case of any problems these can be written in lower case letters.
- It is forbidden to include unnecessary information in the ATIS. Example: "All necessary charts can be found here https://..." and special characters: !@$:?>/ etc.
¶ Additional Information
When cofiguring Voice ATIS in Aurora it is important to use correct voice setting.
Kraków Airport (EPKK): Microsoft David - English (US)
All other airports: Microsoft Zira - English (US)
All controllers are required to obtain current real-world ATIS at least once before connecting. In case of dynamic weather conditions it is suggested to check real-world ATIS every 30 minutes. This can be done by calling phone numbers that can be found in AIP Poland | GEN 3.4
